Re: Got my cab corners welded in last night

Okay okay, they are boring but I got a couple pics. I need to grind down the welds & fill them but the body shop guy said not to grind them until Im ready to fill them. Saves grinding out the surface rust later I guess. I only took one side because I could only get pics of one side, but they look the same anyway. Ill add one of the rust holes too just for the heck of it. Im gonna put the rusty box back on for a while until I can get the parts I need for the step bed & still be able to drive it. At least until it snows a bunch...

I used a Snap-On 110V mig welder that the body shop had. My garage is packed full of junk right now so I used his instead of spending hours getting my truck into my garage. I honestly would have rather used mine. Its not a better welder as far as quality, but its better because I take care of mine. His was kind of a POS. Mine is a 110V Clarke 130EN that I converted to gas. Ive gotten real used to it & now have it working good...

Re: Got my cab corners welded in last night

Instead of starting a new thread whenever I bore you with something I did to my truck, Im gonna just dump it in this post. Today I rearranged some toys so I can get the S10 in the garage to get the cab corners smoothed up & put the leaf springs back in that I took out last winter. The motorcycles arent too happy that they got burried for a little while but riding season is almost shot for the year anyway. The mowers & other garbage are in the back of that stall. The truck will go in the other side in the morning, supposed to be 50 & rainy tomorrow. Ok, heres the boring stuff for today...

Re: Got my cab corners welded in last night

I'm not bored, I am glad mine isn't rusty and I don't have to do that. I wish I had more energy to work on mine after work during the week. I sometimes seems like there isn't enough hours in the day. I like your progress though.

Re: Got my cab corners welded in last night

Well, I finally got the garage cleaned out enough to get the truck in. Dang that feels good! Need to get the work done on it & get it back on the road. I am starting my new job the first of the month & will need something to get back and forth...

Its inside!

Re: Got my cab corners welded in last night

Ive been helping out a friend that owns a Napa store. He asked if I would start full time because he has been short handed. Not really sure its what Id like to do but a weekly paycheck for a decent job without much stress sure would be a nice change. I used to work for him when he owned the harley shop some years back & he wants to combine a motorcycle repair shop onto the parts store next spring. That sounds like it might be a fun job, so Im going for it...

I dont know how busy his NAPA is but when I played parts man in Ill. it was stressfull at times.

if you need room I can help you by storing the cool bike. NO!, not the orange one or the white one either. in exchange for my kindness you could weld in some rockers on my 68.

Re: Got my cab corners welded in last night

Man, it sucks that you have to do all that repair

My southern S10 still has all the factory paint on the frame and not even any surface rust to be found

My dad's '00 S-10 in NY is starting to look a little rough...

Its kinda strange. The frame has a lot of surface rust but nothing serious & the cab corners are bad but thats it on the cab. Even inside the doors look like new. I know the older extended cabs have a problem with the cab corners because there is a seam that never got filled at the factory. They are sealed now though.

Looks like good work on the corners corn.
I put cab corners on my 93, (extened cab full size), a few months ago. Now I need to do the rocker panels... LOL

Oh yeah, ya just as well go ahead and put the step bed on. It's gonna look silly with or without the lowers! LOL

Haha, ya know what really looks funny? When you are in too much of a hurry to get it done, that you dont look up the actual paint code & get the wrong one because of it. ...Will try again after I get the right paint. The crappy pic doesnt help but its a bluer color (think full size teal)...

Thats my son's bike. Its an '08 600rr. 600cc & 115hp at the rear wheel. I went 140mph & there was a lot more left. That was enough for this old man...
