Is my cab shot???

Just curious. Finally getting around to pulling the cab on this thing so I can continue with the frame. Wondering if I need to be on the lookout for another or this one can be saved

Re: Is my cab shot???

Not shot.

I just got done fixing one worse than that... you should come by and look.

However, I did spend all summer fixing it.

Mine spent the first few years of it's life in Iowa getting salted and had already had the rockers replaced....poorly and a repaint.

If you can cut, weld, and grind you can fix that for less than a new cab.

Imprortant question above-
If the roof has rust on outer and inner panels, and based on what other rust you can see (there will be more once you start), then I would say it isn't worth the effort

Re: Is my cab shot???

for 500 bucks you can get a complete floor pan with braces/supports and inner rockers already attached. Every thing you need they have a replacement panel. What do you have to loose?

My thoughts at least

Re: Is my cab shot???

I repaired similar lower rust on one side of my cab, I’ll do the other side next. It’s doable.
Look at your roof near the top of the windshield opening (visor area) and above the doors. That’s the harder area to repair.
There’s some pics and suggestions on the lower repairs at the tail end of my build thread. The good thing about learning this stuff on the lower areas is that it’s way below eye line. So if it’s not dead nutz perfect, it’s not as obvious.

Is that a 50th anniversary truck? It looks like the right colors.

Thumbs up Re: Is my cab shot???

Mine looked way worse and it's now fixed. I did it all my self with a little help from my friends. Just take your time and check your measurements good.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

When I did my work, I compared the price of the full floor and a bunch of patch panels.

If you get the full floor you still need, outer rockers, cab corners, toe boards, lower a-pillar and lower b-pillar. (5 Patch Panels per side + floor)

If you don't get the full floor you also need outer floors, and front/rear cab supports. (8 patch panels per side)

I actually had to make a couple more pieces to patch my floor in addition to the outer floor patches I got. It looks like OP might need to get a patch panel for the firewall also.

I can't remember the numbers but I think buying all the patch panels only was about 1/2 the price. When I was done I wish I had just replaced the entire floor because I think it would have been easier than all the patch welding I did to the floor. But, I was glad I saved the money!

Re: Is my cab shot???

I did my passenger side that was similar to that. Having never done metal work like that before it took a lot of learning, practice and time but it's not rocket science. If you plan to pay a shop to do it, it will get VERY expensive. Like others have said, if the drip rail/roof is terrible, that's another story.

Re: Is my cab shot???

All of that is fixable, and panels readily available. I too would like to see the drip rail, inside roof and "A" pillars. That's the not so easy stuff.
