Looking for an old post: iron impregnated paint rust patina

Hey folks,

I've been searching for an old post and haven't had any luck finding it. The post is a number of years old (4-5, maybe?).

I believe it was a build post where the poster showed how he painted the entire pickup with black iron impregnated paint, and then used acetic acid (I think?) to rust the whole paint job, then neutralized the acid and clear coated.

Does anyone remember that post and know where to find it? I searched on multiple occasions and cannot find it.

Many thanks.

Look up Rusbuilt and 5150. I think they both did it.

Thanks, CG. Searched on those two and not finding the post I'm looking for. From memory, the pickup was painted entirely with black iron impregnated paint and then sprayed down. I think the rust patina was pretty "streaky" or "drippy" looking. Very cool.
