Need an Alternator

Any advice on who might sell a good replacement alternator for my 6.0?

Is it worth the $$ to get AC Delco?

Re: Need an Alternator

I think AC Delco may also do rebuilds but maybe theirs are better than others.

A local rebuild shop may be an option to get yours redone.

I sometimes get one from the junk yard if I can see that it has had a rebuild.

Re: Need an Alternator

Nearest parts store?
Pros: fastest, easiest solution; it fails, new part battery distance away.
Cons:

Re: Need an Alternator

I went to this to my 2002 Suburban about 2 years ago I put I put three Advance Auto Alternators on it was a no-charge situation, I put a Napa remanufactured on it wouldn't charge out of the box I put an AC Delco reman that I paid almost $400 for on it same thing with charge for 10 minutes and then quit charging. I finally got a vision OE remanufactured from a local vendor that was fine been on there for 2 years now. The main thing I noticed was every one of them all had a remanufactured in Mexico tag on even the AC Delco alternator I did a little research it seems that almost all of them are built by BBB alternators in Mexico and just put in different boxes. I will personally buy one from a local shop just to have the lifetime warranty now. Or have a local alternator shop rebuild the one you have

Re: Need an Alternator

Thanks Truckdude..I would like to avoid changing my alternator 3 times. I'll probably just have the local guy rebuild it. It is charging fine, but it is very noisy.
