Ugly orange build

Hey fellas I'm new to the site and i figured id introduce myself along with one of my current builds i have going on. I am a current college student at NC state but i live in MD. This wont be a very fast build but will pick up with time and as more funds come in. Last year i happened to pick up my grandfathers old 65 c-10 step side short bed after years of telling him i wanted to fix it up and once i saw it i realized why he had been hiding it from me for so long. Its a complete rust bucket. The roof was gone and so was everything else really. But i got lucky enough to find a lady who was recently divorced and had acquired a 65 long bed fleet side. So i went and looked at it and it was in pretty shape but a lot better looking than what i currently had. i looked it over and seemed to be a pretty good truck over all for a project. She was asking 3500 and i hit her with the 550 dollars i had in my pocket and she took it and was glad to just see it go. So this leaves me with where I'm at now. I have since got the truck running and driving with some pretty simple tune up and some light work and i have pulled the rust bucket apart for the good parts off it and a short bed frame since thats what it will be going back to. I do have big plans for this truck and I'm not going back original and its going to be a fun weekend cruiser for me a my grandfather to spend time in. There is a color orange that iv always wanted to paint a truck so i figured this would be the perfect time for it. My grandfather has also been quiet impressed with the little 4.8l vortec so we are gonna use that for a motor, he was the one who showed me the twin turbo 4.8l article in hot rod magazine so that might not happen right away but with time its a goal. (not really aiming for 1200hp either) We are going to drop the truck with a 4/6 drop to get it sitting lower. My big question is has ANYONE seen a truck with with the corvette zr1 spoke wheels?? I absolutely love these wheels and plan on running a 19x10 front and 20x12 rear if i can make them work. any way ill shut up now and on to the pictures!!

Not to mention i got a set of brand new GM fenders. (the real deal bought in 67)

we have some stuff in primer and other stuff still needs some rust patching but I'm hoping by march that everything will be done and painted so i can start working on motor stuff.

Yeah i got super luck on the fenders. The guy a just lost a bet and said he would sell all his 65 stuff so i told him i would be at his house the very next day to pick it all up.... little did he know i was serious. The rockers and a bunch of odds and ends are original gm stuff but the list is too long to go though haha

A lot of trim and interior parts, new signal lights and bezels and seals for both fleet and stepside, tail gates chains, door handles, I know there is more but I can't think of it off the top of my head. I still need to pull it all out and take pictures of everything. This is the hardest part with being at college
