Tunnel ram sbc

Hey everyone haven't been on this site in ages (mostly because I haven't worked on my project 76 chevy 4x4 in years) its finally time to get it done. I was wondering will a tunnel ram sbc fit under the hood without cutting it?

Re: Tunnel ram sbc

Some do with out lowering the engine, and using low profile air cleaners.

My Holley pro dominator should fit with few issues with a stock hood, but I will use a cowl hood to allow raised base air cleaners for the last few hp.

But it will lack the drivability of the Weiland Hi-ram or street ram. Can't remember correct name. They fit with a 2.5 cowl hood, and attention to detail on the air cleaners.

You can get a decent comparing from the lip for the hood on the cowl from the distributor pad.

Re: Tunnel ram sbc

Dang if you asked this last week I had my engine in with out the intake. I could have thrown my tunnel ram on there and check. Let me measure tonight and see what it looks like on a tape.

That would be awesome thanks. I'm pretty sure on the firewall side it's going to clear but I was worried that the hood angles down a bit toward the core support not much but I think it's going to be tight.

Re: Tunnel ram sbc

I ran a piece of masking tape across from fender to fender and it's right at 13" from the china wall to the tape. The hood appears to be about 1/2" thick in that area.

Sorry it took so long, I'm forgetful lol
