Transmission/Transfer case R&R question
I'm putting a clutch kit in my truck. The GM service manual I have tells me to remove the transfer case (NP241) prior to removing the transmission (Getrag 5-spd). Seems like I could pull the 2 as a unit and save some labor. What do you guys think?

Re: Transmission/Transfer case R&R question
can be done but it will be tippy to th left as the wheght of the t case will want to pull it over. pulling the t case isn't that bad. it will save you a lot of hassle when putting it back together to get it on the splines. i had an 89 isuzu tropper where the trans and t case were one unit. let me tell you what a pain in the ass to get it out then to get it back in on the splines.

Re: Transmission/Transfer case R&R question
Just wanted to check in to say I got 'er done. Bought a transmission jack from Harbor Freight and used it both for the transfer case and the transmission. Put in a new flywheel, clutch kit, clutch fork, and input seal for the transfer case. Took me alot longer than I thought it would but happy I did it as it drives great! Thanks once again for a great site and advice.
