'65 Short Step kits from Revell

A little on the spendy side at $21.99, but I thought some might be interested. It's the first 60-66 Chevy kit I have been able to find new so I was kind of stoked. Enjoy

Thanks for the heads up on this.

I used to be quite the plastic model builder, but nowadays you can buy a larger scale metal model for just a little more $. It's that darn "global economy"

True. Call it the gearhead I am, but I heavily prefer to be the one who decides how the model comes out. Don't get me wrong, I've got quite a few of the die cast models in all kinds of scales (and I'll probably order one of those pickups you posted, thanks). I just really enjoy building the plastic kits, and seeing just how detailed I can get.

SUCKS! I just found the exact same kit a few bucks cheaper at another online store. That'll teach me to do more searching....oh well. Here is the new link for anyone still looking:

Edit: just spent an hour or so checking out this website, and they've got a really good selection of detailing bits and pieces.

Revel also makes a 64' short fleet, I don't know if they are still in production tho. I picked one up from a guy in town here him and his wife own an antique shop and he deals with die cast and plastic model kits. I found a 72 cheyanne and a 57 cameo from the guy too I will try to post some pics when I get around to building the thing!

Re: '65 Short Step kits from Revell

Chinese made diecast metal, although technically a model,is what's known as a scale replica. When we say model we mean scale model kit. Those are also scale replicas. The point is,a model is a kit made from styrene plastic from molds made in America back when America could make things. Model kits are worth more than super mass produced by China diecast assembled in a sweat shop.

They made an earlier version of that Stepside a few years before. The truck is red with wide whites on the box with Skip's Garage on the door. There's also the version with the Hydro Hemi boat:

Re: '65 Short Step kits from Revell

I've been wanting to get on of those kits with the boat and stepside, but I keep getting out bit or beat to the purchase (can't get on e-bay here at work). One day I'll get it.....

Re: '65 Short Step kits from Revell

I got that one when it came out. The sticker on it says $19.00. I used to hit the hobby stores and check their catalogs for current models. Even hobby store prices seem above retail these days.
