Re: Project "CREWMAX" Just another crewcab build....

We section cut a portion out of the sloped rail section of frame to bring it lower, then section cut the frame in the flat to shorten it.

I am curious why you didn’t just move the axle forward and cut off the excess frame? That’s what I’m planning to do with mine so you got me wondering.

Re: Project "CREWMAX" Just another crewcab build....

The C30 cab and chassis rear section raises up more than the typical c10/c20 frames. This wouldn't allow the body line to match up correctly without raising the body without raising the bed ( which I could have done). In order to fix this we lowered the rear section then shortened the frame

Did you happen to take pictures of your frame modification?
I have a 157" frame I am using also
and have been looking at all my options
when I get to that point.
Thanks

Post 39 you can see the frame weld.
I was thinking I could change all the bed floor supports and replace them with the shorter ones like in the center. But I’m with you on frame showing, this tall frame will already have extra hanging down. I appreciate the response, would hate to discovered something else down the road

MaddKidd - I thought the same thing about switching to the smaller supports but in the end it wasn't that much extra work to just lower it by removing that piece from the sloped portion of frame.

I will try to get a few more pics. It is just tacked right now, I need to have some plates cut to go on the inside of the frame one of these days

I’ve thought about it before in reference to you playing the frame. Do you have any old frames you could cut a section out of and use it to reinforce. Would think you could slice it in the middle and would be stronger having the 90 degree bend like a piece of angle iron.

Re: Project "CREWMAX" Just another crewcab build....

builds looking good! i had pondered between a 133" and 157" wb c30 frame. I ended up going with a 133" and had material broken to stretch in the center. I was debating cutting down the top of the 157" frame rails or changing bed crossmembers. Sounds like you cut down the frame rails to work with stock bed?
