Here are a few pictures of the compressor and lines installed. The ac will make Texas heat bearable.

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

Today we wired up the dual electric fans to the computer control line and added an AC override to turn them on as soon as the AC switch is activated.

Also finished adding the radiator top cover and relocated the wiper fluid container.

Little things the seem to take awhile😁

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

Check out the tire and rim combination for the spare. I have mounted up all new tires on some old worn steel wheels from one of my square body parts truck to fit the patinaed theme.

I know it is not for everyone but I really like the fact that it all looks old and worn when in fact it is in like new condition underneath.

Any comments out there?

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

Took a crappy picture in an uneven parking lot today to try and show the new lower stance. It looks higher in the rear than it really is because of the parking lot slope. When I bring it home in the next couple days I will get better ones.

I am still debating on air ride. I have it on 2 of my 6 rides and not sure if I will add it to the shop truck just yet. Kind of like the thought of just get in and go with no worries.

So we finished the paint in all the rust repair areas and I am pleased with the outcomes. They turned out good and cleaned up the overall appearance of the truck.

I kinda like blue wheels on the first posts, but it's your call . Static drop is fine for what your wanting the truck for IMO.

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

I really like the stock mirrors and the fact that I can now see along side of the truck. I had a couple of close calls without mirrors when I first got the truck.

I don’t know how people drive without them.

Thanks for the feed back.

I have to change the wheels as I am going from 6 lug to 5 lug. I figured the if I wanted to change them up I can always paint them any color in the future.

I guess I will drive it awhile and fight it out down the road. For some reason I just like the super weathered look.

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

Installed the seat belts, seat, and carpet today as well.

I bought this seat from a guy in Dallas and haven’t decided if I like the cover.

It might be cool to recover it but there is really nothing wrong with it structurally or mechanically.

Also, the new carpet looks great in the truck but is making the top of the seat look kinda gray instead of light blue.

After all the work the seat looks old in there now. Funny how I never noticed it when everything was dirty and dingy.

Oh well, it’s only money

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

Tomorrow I will finish up the inside of the doors, door gaskets, door panels, window tracks, and tint the side windows.

The stereo needs wired up, the compressor wiring will be completed, charge and test the AC system, and finish up a few loose ends.

The power brakes are giving me fits. I put discs on it first and left the manual drum drum master cylinder on it. It stopped great and straight but took a lot of pedal pressure.

While working on everything else I added the booster bracket, booster, and the new master cylinder the bled the entire system a couple of times and there is absolutely no air in the system.

Now it stops ok but takes crazy amount of pedal pressure. Worse than without the booster. Acts like the booster isn’t working at all and I have a ton of vacuum at the booster.

It still has the drum/drum proportioning valve on it. I had that on it when I did the disc conversion only and it stopped great. I don’t understand what could have gone wrong.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

This is long shot but a friend of mine just installed a new aftermarket booster on his '79 CJ7 with same result you have. Turns out the new one way vacuum valve at the booster was bad not allowing any vacuum into the booster diaphragm. Tossed a valve from one of my old square body boosters and she works like a champ!

Thanks.

I figured out the braking issue. I added a cup on the backside of the booster to seal the hole at the firewall. It was to tight and wouldn’t let in any air to the backside of the booster.

I cut it out and now have great brakes!

That reason is because it’s a great look. A genuine patina looks as good as a fine wine tastes. On the other hand a bad “faux-tina” looks as bad as warm flat schlitz malt liquor tastes. 🤮

I agree, I won’t even look at buying a fake patina ride.

Here are a couple of mine to enjoy.

Re: Flipper turns keeper... 67 upgrades

So here it sits back in my drive way after we were doing all the paint and rust repair at my buddies shop.

The first pic is how she currently sits. Still have to change out the rear axles to get the rear tires and patinaed wheels on her. Will be nice when all the wheels match.

Did you use the ceramic lizard skin only or the sound barrier stuff too? What was your steps? Epoxy primer, paint, lizard skin?

Thanks, and your build is coming along nicely!

We did the sound deadening lizard skin on the floor first because I wanted the kick panels covered and then we painted over it when we did the final interior color.

I didn’t use the ceramic because I am putting carpet over the lizard skin.

We primed the entire interior except the floor and painted every the blue color.

So you can put the lizard skin on direct metal with no primer?

We sanded and scuffed the original paint on the floors and kick panels before laying it on. We did prime the new metal that was welded in like the rockers and the lower kick panels.

I am not sure if I would put it over bare metal.
