Lift kit/value drop
Hey guys,
I posted my truck the other day(72 K10 Cheyenne Super SWB 4x4)--first time poster and very green to this old truck world. Just knew that I've wanted a '72 since I was a kid, and finally got a clean one. Anyway--I know that modifying the truck too much (it is 95% stock) can lower/drop the value, and I really want to be sure to keep the truck as original as possible. That being said, i'd ALSO really like to put a tasteful 2- 2 1/2" susp lift on it to fit slightly bigger tires than the 32's on it now, but don't want to do it if it greatly decreases value. I'd say either flip it now and make your money, or keep it, lift it and love it. Lifts can be removed. Keep your springs.

it is your truck and you have been wanting one for a long time, do what makes you happy with it, you only live once,I don't plan on ever selling my 72 K20, so i do what I like to it and don't worry about what someone else may like or not....welcome to the site, you are pretty close to me

Simple solution: buy another truck. You can modify one, and make one as original as possible. It's only money...

A 2 1/2" lift is an absolutely reversible bolt-on alteration that most wouldn't even know was done. Keep your original parts and whoever buys it may or may not want it lifted, but the price will be the same. If it's a clean hands turn-key type of person who wants it stock, it will cost them a bit more to pay someone to put the stock suspension back but should have no affect on value. To a buyer who works on their own stuff it's no big deal. Its not a radical change and not even a noticeable one but to those keyed-in on these K-models. Spring work is a common truck upgrade/upfit done to suit the nature of the beast since trucks have existed.

The trucks around here seem to sell for more if they're lifted 2.5-6inches

Appreciate everyones input. Looks like I'll be lifting it and keeping the old parts--as soon as i take care of my overheating issue, haha.
