Ol' Stella 1965 GMC Build

Hello all, I have been visiting your site ever since I got my 65 gmc. Here are pics when I first got it. I bought it for $750 and it runs perfectly. I eventually would like to switch out the motor, transmission and put some disc brakes on it.

Here is the progress so far:

Hey that looks like a good Idaho truck !! Welcome from Star Idaho.
Does that still have the 305 V-6? Lots of guys here still using them. They look really cool with the plaid valve covers!!

Welcome to the forum from another Idaho member

There's getting to be a number of members here from Idaho.

Was the frame on your truck tweaked? I see it's on a frame rack.

Re: Ol' Stella 1965 GMC Build

Hello fellow Idaho members.

@Captainfab- The frame is not tweaked to my knowledge...
@narx66gmc - ditching the patina....not the look I am going for.
@bubba327 - Where is Star Idaho? Yes it still has the 305 v6

Re: Ol' Stella 1965 GMC Build

If I could buy a truck like that for 750 here on the east coast I would have my own fleet.
Great deal and a great start.

Star is located between Eagle and Middleton--- west of Boise about 20 miles North of Nampa about 14 miles population 1700
I have been to Driggs a few times and It is Beautiful country . Just a little too cold when the winter winds howl!

Also I am going to do a shop logo on the side. Here is the logo I am going to put, this was created by my good friend Aaron Draplin over at DDC.

Re: Ol' Stella 1965 GMC Build

Looking good !!
Just wondering about the bed floor, It that a flat steel floor? Post a few pics on how that went together.
As quick as that is going together, you will be cruising around before snow fall !!

Re: Ol' Stella 1965 GMC Build

Well we finished up the truck on Saturday and its now in the garage.I think this how she'll sit for the winter. Next summer I plan to drop a new motor, tranny as well as disc brakes and slam her on the ground. Let me know what you guys think.
