extra bright backup light bulbs

after almost backing into a pole i got on the hunt for brighter backup light bulbs that would just install like the 1156 factory bulbs but alot brighter. so a heavy equipment mechanic friend of mine came home from work and had some small halogen bulbs that fit perfect and wow were they brighter. he said they were 400% brighter than stock 1156 bulbs. the equipment used them for backup lights. well now i have them in my truck and i,ll never go back to stock bulbs..... anyway i,ve got 6 sets extra for 20.00 a set delivered if anybody needs a set.

Re: extra bright backup light bulbs

If they are that much brighter, then they are certainly much hotter. Any idea if they will melt the lens? How much more current do they pull vrs the1156?

Re: extra bright backup light bulbs

I've heard that the 1156's just have a shorter life span when used to replace 1157s, but I'd be curious about the heat issue.

Re: extra bright backup light bulbs

Your right. Maybe it is something like a 2156? Can't remember.

Found this site that has a lot of "super bright" 1156 replacements.

How much time do you spend in reverse? Seems like heat shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Not long, but a Halogen bulb reaches operating temp under 15 seconds
