Horn won't work

I put a 68 wheel on my 71, I have all the guts for the 68, replaced the relay when I press the button you can hear the relay clicking but no horn. Any ideas? Just got the truck running working all the bugs out as it will be a daily driver.

Was the horn working before you put a new horn cap on? On my 67 project we finally got around to putting on a horn cap so we tested it seems the same as yours where I can hear the clicking. We light tested the horn and no good. Maybe replace the horn itself.

Not sure as the truck was not running when I bought it and I never tested it with the original wheel. How can I test the actual horn to see if it is bad?

There is a light tester you can buy at an auto parts store to see if its got juice or ground to it.

Checked voltage, get 12 v to horn when button is pressed, apparently I must have a bad horn.

Yeah, sounds like a bad horn or maybe bad wiring to the horn. One trick when installing a new steering wheel and horn assembly, is to unplug the connector from the back of the horn. You can hear things click to let you know the horn button works, without annoying everyone with constant honking. Then, you just plug it back in.

Hi, possible bad ground, rusty dirty mounting bolt. With the horn in you hands, a volt/ohm meter should show maybe 10 ohms, between the blade terminal and mounting eyelet, don't exactly know the value but a completed circuit none the less. I have brought more than one horn back to like with a rap from a ballpein hammer, but is usually short lived. Good luck, Brian F
