Rectangular port intake on oval port heads

This question has probably been beat to death so I apologize.
I have 454 with with closed chambered oval port heads ( 3872702 ) and the intake that came off it is a factory aluminum rectangulat port intake ( 6269318 )
I know it will *work*, but what are the pros and cons ?
Not looking for the fastest truck on the strip, just a mild daily driver I can do burn outs in.
I don't want to sacrifice a bunch of low end to gain high end, which I don't need.
Any thoughts?

Re: Rectangular port intake on oval port heads

the issue is your ports are a mismatched and the smaller oval port is impeding the flow out of the big intake ports. For an everyday driver not a real big deal but you would be better off to buy a matching oval port intake.

If those were how your engie came I'd wonder what else is needing attention. Best bet would be to pick up an oval port intake. New or used and get it flowing right.

I also agree. The ports in the intake and cylinder heads need to match as close as possible.

Re: Rectangular port intake on oval port heads

This is why engine builders do port matchng. To smooth the flow transition from intake to head.

Re: Rectangular port intake on oval port heads

Plus the port velocity will be down (slower) with the rectangular ports in general, a smaller oval port is way faster, hence the better bottom end than square port design.
