Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

Back on the ground, I actually DROVE the '58 out of the garage and gave it a quick bath. I also got the doors adjusted so the gaps are right and both sides open and close with ease.

I also changed the sway bar links, using a set for a '70 Charger which were 1.5" longer. I think lowering the front suspension messed up the geometry of the stock Nova links, causing them to tip back. Now they sit straight up and down.

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

While the truck is at the painter's, the garage is getting a beauty makeover. Drywall was in but it needed to be mudded and taped. After the mud I gave the walls a coat of primer and a 2 tome paint job. Tomorrow the Racedeck flooring goes in...

Other than a few minor details the garage is done, still waiting for the '58 to come back from paint...

Re: Brother's keeper - '58 Stepside build

Visited the painter tonight to go over a few things and give him some money for materials. The bed parts are in sealer and everything else has been final sanded. Color will be going on in the next couple of days, I can hardly wait...

Hey Mark, are you painting it with the cab on/engine in and doors hung? Looking good!

Just as it sits in the picture, the door and cab jambs are painted already. I painted the firewall before putting the cab on so masking shouldn’t be too difficult

Here's how it looks under the lights in my garage, quite different than the photos shot at the paint shop.

I picked up the box sides, tail gate, rear sill, box front panel, cowl vent panel and the filler that goes between the bumper and grille surround from the painter. The timing was perfect, I'm going to jam and get the non-truck projects done around the house tomorrow so I can assemble the box on Sunday...

The inspiration for the emblem came from this drawing...
