Garage Cabinets - storage

Finishing out the interior of the garage - going with metal siding/ wall panels but more importantly the wife has given the thumbs up for a professional set of wall/floor cabinet - " put all your junk away so I cant see it" is her quote hahaha

What is the best bang for the buck - want value, durability, quality, USA made would be a plus as well

Looking to do a "L" shape 120'' x 120'' or so

thoughts or examples

Re: Garage Cabinets - storage

I'd want good heavy base cabinets under the workbench, but nothing special needed for the walls. If I used household wall cabinets I'd want well made (strong) ones. I tend to go for older good quality things rather than buy new.

Re: Garage Cabinets - storage

I don't have any good pictures, but I went to a surplus store and found a set of really old kitchen cabinets. In process of sanding them down and repainting. I believe they are made out of oak.

Re: Garage Cabinets - storage

Habitat for Humanity Recycle stores sometimes have good cabinets.
Check box stores for clearance/damaged cabinets.
Have also found good cabinets at garage sales.

One of the solid core slab doors makes a good workbench top.

Re: Garage Cabinets - storage

Many moons ago I called up one of the nationally recognized closet manufacturers for my garage. Wasn't no home depot quality and definitely supported any weight I tossed at it. Flat front cabinets, off the floor install, soft close hinges, basically all the stuff that used kitchen cabinets do not offer. With the flat fronts I could add some of the diamond plate wall paper and make them look really expensive. If I had the space to do it all over again, it would be lowers only, on wheels and capable of being joined together to form one big bench.
