Re: 4bt cummins swap
there is a fair aftermarket and performance bmw crowd, but i dont know how much tweaking is going on with the diesels.
also, anything with that pretty blue and white emblem does mean a wallet will be getting lighter. my concern with trying to swap the drivetrain from one of those would be the transmission. you can hang an engine in a frame pretty easy, but i dont know how the trans would work. the X series suvs are AWD and i think it may be all integrated. i dont know enough of the bmw stuff to know what solutions there are or are not for that family of engines. could be a completely normal trans from some other application could work. i would do a whole boatload of looking and reading before i dropped any cash. i have also never driven the diesel but BMW is known for torque. i bet it would push around a fairly light older truck in a pretty fun way. |

Re: 4bt cummins swap
ryanroo, I agree completely. It would be a really off the wall swap and I am just trying to learn about those engines. I was afraid that they only offered AWD so that would be a problem to overcome. I have also heard that the diesels that they offer in those Mercedes vans might be something to investigate.
So, HC71, what do you think of lowriders? |

Re: 4bt cummins swap
Hemi please refrain from the two year old name calling. Besides being against the rules, its simply not cool. Thanks
