Just put some 22's on my 01 tahoe last week.

Last week I found a steal on some like new 22" wheels and tires. I've been looking for awhile and I couldn't pass them up. Here are some pics that I took this morning with my cell phone. Let me know what you guys think of them. (It's hard to tell in the pics but my tahoe is a dark metallic green).

I think the fact that they still have a good sized tire on them helps too. Doesn't look like it's all wheel.

305/40/22, so they are about 32" tall and 12.5" wide.

Thanks! I know what you mean, when I got these they looked huge. Now I look at it and I think they look kinda small. I like these ones though and I don't think I will go any bigger.

Thanks guys! I plan on dropping it 3/4 sometime, just not sure when I'll get around to it.

Re: Just put some 22's on my 01 tahoe last week.

3/4 might be too much with that wide of rim/tire due to the turning up front and the inner fenders out back. I was rubbing on my inner fenders when I hit big bumps/dips in the road and rubbed on the front now and then and I was stock height. I think my overall diameter was close to yours (could've been a bit bigger) except with 24s. A 2/3 you can get away with but any lower and it rubs alot from what I've seen.

We had a guy with a denali on 24s have us put stock coils in the rear (cause when he loaded up all his buddies, his inner fenders were draggin on the 24s lol The yukon/tahoe/denali/escalade springs really don't have a high weight rating. A few hunderd pounds and backend dips down.

Too bad you aren't closer. I've got a 2/3 kit that's brand new in box which I never put in my Yukon.

Re: Just put some 22's on my 01 tahoe last week.

I put a 3/3 kit on my 02 tahoe and would strongly recommended a 3/5 kit if you're going to lower it. I had 20s with 275/55/20 (sames as stock LTZ 20's) and the back needed to come down, but the front looked just right...IMO

Re: Just put some 22's on my 01 tahoe last week.

What was your rim/tire width out back jb?

From all the yukons/tahoes I've seen with 22-26s there's a lot of rubbing out back when you go 4-6" drop due to how the inner fenders are and if you put any weight in the back. Although, of course every vehicle drops differently so you never know the true amount until everything is installed.

I assume this question is for me... 20x8.5" wheels (MB Gunner 6) with 275/55/20 tire, i didn't have any issues other than the truck not being low enough. I sold my 02 hoe to fund my 95 suburban project and 95 tahoe daily driver. My brother bought my 02 and put some different shocks on the rear (not sure what kind), but got another inch lower out back (according to him).

Re: Just put some 22's on my 01 tahoe last week.

Ahh ya you can get away with that much drop then. Those tires are almost 2" narrower than the 22s he's running and my 24s I had. 12"+ may rub on the shock housing or inner fender area when it wraps around the shock mount depending on the rims offset. I had about 1cm between it and my 24s. I had a tire explode on my 22s while doing 90mph around a corner and it ripped part of my inner fender out lol. That solved the problem

Re: Just put some 22's on my 01 tahoe last week.

Sorry, I haven't been on here much lately so I didn't realize this thread came back (a month and a half ago ). Yeah, I think it might rub if I dropped it that low, the outer rears also look like they would rub if I dropped it too much. Also like said the tires are really close to the shock and inner fenderwell. The other issue is the auto ride suspension, I would like to go to conventional shocks but I'm not sure how to disable the auto susp. without throwing codes. Thanks for the compliments, and the offer dubds10.

You may look over at gmfullsize.com. I want to say I remember seeing a thread on how to run conventional shocks on a Tahoe with the autoride, and not throw up any codes.

Thanks for the heads up! I remember reading somewhere how to do it but it's been a while, I'll have to check into it.
