Re: Story time
Paul, that is how you get your stuff back.
Sorry to hear about your "adventure" Liz and I'm glad it turned out somewhat well. The sad part about the story is the parents defending the low life P.O.S.. It's not hard to figure out why he turned out to be a thief. The parents should have been embarrassed.

To admit their son could've done something like this would've required them to admit their parenting might've had something to do with it. Most people are too headstrong or stubborn to openly admit they brought something onto this planet that caused someone else grief. Probably think he doesn't do drugs too.

Re: Story time
A long week? All of that happened within what, a two or three day span? Thats crazy!
Im happy that ya got most of your stuff back and amazed that you can look at the positives that you've got goin on! These days that's the lens to be looking at life through. I always make a point to show my kids stuff like this...especially my son. I remind him that "although I love you to death, I'd let you rot in jail if you ever pull something like this. More for your own good than anything". To which he replies, "so I learn my lesson dad"? To which I reply, "no son, so I don't kill you myself!" Lord forbid my son ever get a haircut like that guy!

Re: Story time
Well, he's got one those, now! I hated getting beat as a kid, so I used psychological warfare instead. Kidding. One can raise kids and not have them turn out bad, without beating them. It's a shame that his parents failed him, though he's (ir)responsible as well.

Re: Story time
I am not defending the perp or his parents but could it be he was born mentally disturbed?
It may seem cold and unchristian like but I have no sympathy for those who willingly take illegal drugs. Those born with mental issues are understandable so my heart goes out to them and their families as my family has experience with this. Either way that man needs help. For sure he won't spend much time in jail, if any, so no rehab there. He will be back out and most likely go back to doing the same thing, hopefully not in your neighborhood. Only he may then go armed. That's disturbing. His parents should not be directly blamed for his actions. As was told to me many years ago "you can do your very best to raise your children right but you cannot live their lives for them". It's up to them.

Where I have an issue with his parents... they went to the home while our things were being recovered and went off about us taking his stuff. Sorry they deserve blame for that. Hes misguided or such was said. Yep he is but that does not change the fact that he infringed on our rights. To defend him makes them equally POS in my opinion. If my kid did this, they would be left to do their time. |

Re: Story time
Liz, I'm very sorry for your rough time. I feel like your wasting your talent though. You should definitely be a writer. I normally would not read an entire post of that size, but I could not stop.
You should definitely be a writer, but not on facebook. Facebook is a toilet. https://www.geekwire.com/2018/callin...-social-giant/ Hope the rest of the summer is good for you. |

No blowback needed. I got the belt almost weekly as a kid. Re: Story time
My Brother is an Alcoloholic and addict , I always looked up to him , amazed at what he could do and what he knew how to do . He has been kept up by my Mom as well as Disability and we are no longer close . He is 2 years older than I am and I miss what we once had but I cant help him . He blames everyone but himself for where he is in life , I cant even talk to him anymore . He lives over an hour away from me and I see him maybe once a year , I hope and pray one day he decides he wants help and finds it . I tried to help many years ago and he claimed I was trying to put him away . I only offered to pay for him to get some kind of help , along with my Late wife . She thought we should borrow the money to get him help . When he said we were trying to put him away I walked away as he was not ready for help . Maybe one day he will seek help , but I cant do it for him .
Same with this guy , I hope one day he decides to seek the help he needs . |

Re: Story time
My dad had seven half brothers. All of them achieved varying degrees of success except one.
That one brother was coddled by my granddad. The uncle burglarized a store and post office one Saturday night. My dad stood in my grandad's front yard that Sunday morning and begged my grandpa to leave his ass in jail. Grandpa mortgaged his farm to bail his sorry rear out of jail. It didn't stop there. He pretty much broke my grandad. He was a liar and thief. He would steal from anybody, including family members. That uncle died of alcoholism in a camper trailer in the woods. He could not be helped.

My family has both addicts and alcoholics too. Its ok to love someone but not to love who they are. It happens.

Family members need to be able to know the difference between supporting and enabling.
