Project 1970 SWB

Hey guys this is the same truck, I just didn't want to call the truck Orgasmic Ebony. I also didn't want to paint it black. That being said I want to keep it as original as possible. So I am keeping most of the original body parts, but one of my purchases yesterday was a oem 1970 Chevrolet grille from Bob Graham. Now I am waiting on some oem headlight bezels. I am also keeping the 67 parts for a future project.

Just another update you guys got some headlight bezels from member too much stuff. It feels like Christmas when you keep getting parts. All they really need is some light sanding and fresh paint or powder coating.

How do you plan on fixing up the grill? Is there a way to make it look new again? My grill is pretty decent but I was wanting to know how a restoration is done.

Small body hammers and dollies, a buffer to get her shinny, black paint for the plastic inner piece, and most of all time and patience. Also, if your inner piece is cracked in a few places, you can either get a new one or you can get filler for plastic. I'm not sure what the stuff is called, but the local auto paint shop told me about it.

The piece that's slightly broken I'll just use jb weld to glue it back together. Then you just you clean, put a little lacquer thinner, and maybe a dust rag. Then just paint it with krylon, or rustleom... whatever your poison really is.

As far as the shell goes like low&slow said polish will get rid of surface rust. Now about making it shine there are a lot of different ways to do that. That one I'm not 100% sure on yet

Re: Project 1970 SWB

You're lucky you don't have the grill I'm stuck with on my '70.

Someone tried to buff out the dent with a screwdriver and now it looks like a face full of pimples.

Re: Project 1970 SWB

you can rework them.. almost impossible to polish out with the factory anodizing on. I stripped the anodizing off , sanded and polished mine.
