Re: off it goes

For blocking we use a polyester primer made by Evercoat called Slicksand.

Re: off it goes

Love the Slicksand/G2. It's a nice crutch for my mediocre Bondo skills.

Re: off it goes

All the NOS moldings have been test fit to the truck, we have a pencil line around all the moldings so that the trim will maintain a constant gap with the body lines of the truck

Re: off it goes

Like they say, "It's ALL in the DETAILS!" This truck has so many, most will be missed by the general public once it is finished.

Outstanding work as always!

Re: off it goes

I think you missed a spot... :P

It looks great! I don't know anything about body work, but from the looks of the raw metal I didn't imagine that you would have to cover it completely with filler.

I really can't wait to see this thing in color! It is going to be killer!

thanks man...it's amazing how great my buddy is at metal fab, but if you want perfection that's the way you get it. This is the stuff all the big time hot rod builders don't show, they always make it sound like there is no filler in the their cars. That's bull, if you want perfection it's all in the bodywork and paint prep...

Yep. And that's why they call it "bodywork" and not "bodyfun". Lots of hard work. Sore back, shoulders, fingers, bondo buggers,
No shortcut.

Fine job you guys are doing.

If you don't mind me asking what is the darker brown color in your rendering?

Did you get the 6.2L? That is a nice looking truck (new one, old one will be amazing looking). I bought one last year and wanted the 5.3 for mileage. It seems the 6.2 beats the 5.3 in that department all day long. I may have to trade mine in.

Beautiful truck! I've been following this build for years. Nice to see it almost done. The new truck is sweet also!

Frank, I recently picked up a 2012 Yukon Denali AWD with the 6.2. I wasn't really looking for one with the 6.2, but it seemed like a decent deal so I bought it. After driving it for a while I love the 6.2 and I am so glad I got it!

we're still at it guys...between that and million other things, lol chassis is all painted and fully assembled, motor, tranny and rear end is all painted and installed. Just waiting on my headers to get back from being coated and then the exhaust will be hung. We just nailed down a paintcode for the yellow color in the moldings, that way all the NOS trim color will be consistent. Also just did a handful of spray outs for the main color on the truck, thinking of changing it slightly. Already had 2 guys copy the color on their build so It's time to tweak it just a shade or two from factory.
