Question About Edelbrock Vacuum Ports & Charcoal Canister

I'm trying to figure out how to connect my vacuum canister to my Edelbrock carburetor. This thread outlines most of the connections:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php3?t=169702

I'm not sure where to connect the small line that comes from the center cap of the charcoal canister. I'm not sure, but I believe this line opens and closes a valve inside the canister.

I have my distributor vacuum advance connected to the port on the front of the carburetor labeled "1" in the picture. Should I connect the center cap of the charcoal canister to the other fitting (2)?

I know this thread is super old but I'm going through my fuel system and have the same exact question. Did you ever find an answer to this pjmoreland?

Re: Question About Edelbrock Vacuum Ports & Charcoal Canister

Hi there. I sold that truck 12 years ago so my memory is hazy on these details to say the least. I dug through some photos, and it appears that I connected the hose in question to the carb fitting on the left ("1") and moved the vacuum advance to the right. I don't remember the reason for doing it this way.

Holy cow, these are the times where the members of this site amaze me. Great response time and went through the trouble of digging through old pics to help answer my question 12 years after you sold the truck.

I did notice you have a line coming out of the center port and T-fitting on it. What do you suppose you had hooked to that?

I believe that's the larger line that goes to the charcoal canister and purges the vapors from it when the engine is running.

The larger center port is for the PCV valve on the Valve Cover. There is a port on the back side of the carb for Manifold vacuum if needed.

Partly correct.
Large port front and back are manifold vacuum. Usually front is for pcv. Back one for power brakes. Front one can be tee’d like in the pic for the pcv and canister use. Factory did that mid 80’s.
