Re: 72 cheyenne

Is the RPO 4001BB?
Have seen them and "almost" in that combo. Most I've seen were white with a factory mid color only (as in, what you've got, but with a white top).

Re: 72 cheyenne

Here is one I dug up, it was for sale recently. Have also seen "Special Paint" trucks that were a solid factory color that wasn't offered on trucks. I had a 76 Special Paint truck that simply had orange paint that was offered on medium duty trucks in that year. Have seen a few Special Paint codes other than 4001BB, such as ZP3 (which seemed to have more meaning in the square years, but I saw it on a 69 Longhorn, non-truck solid color), 4001YC (I think), 1001M1 (that flashy 70 Purple), etc.

Re: 72 cheyenne

ZH is a new one on me. Very, very cool truck.
So, interior paint is white with Parchment trim and Parchment houndstooth seat? (a favorite combo)
Ya might as well post ALL your pics so we don’t have to keep begging (ie I want to see the interior now. )

Re: 72 cheyenne

I've got a lot of it takin out. Yes parchment interior white paint. Black dash pad, black seat belts, houndstooth seat like you said but wore out.... holes in driver seat. Woodgrain interior, only thing I think it doesn't have is tach, tilt wheel. Why I don't know. Someone painted the parchment door panels gloss white... ruined them I'm guessing. I'm totally restoring it, I'll keep it the same color paint scheme... I will change the interior color to black with black headliner, visors, door panels, bucket seats with console, put tilt in it with tach dash. Keeping it in the same year model of interiors, just changing a bit with the interior and color.

Re: 72 cheyenne

Very interesting two tone. Can you tell if it's original paint? Any markings on the firewall?

Re: 72 cheyenne

I’m with Eric, I’d keep it parchment - but it’s not my truck! Ha. Sorry living on my phone at the moment, will post some parchment on white when i get home if someone doesn’t beat me to it. It would be a very interesting investigation to figure out if those are indeed the original colors and in the original paint scheme. If it is, dare I say it - yes, it’s “very rare” Ha. I think I HAVE seen only one like yours except with a white top.

I swear I've seen others like this but i cant really confirm that since i wasnt really paying much attention..... lol... I just started paying more attention to these again in the last year alot. I found this truck in Newcastle Oklahoma. It was a Texas truck before that. The guy I bought it off of didn't do anything to it after he bought it. His intentions were to restore it and never got to it. Set in a storage since he'd had it. I have no idea if previous 1st or 2nd owner might have painted the roof. It looks as though it might have been repainted but all I can tell is possibly the bed being painted. Under hood is white like it should be. No other color under hood.

I'd just like to find out somehow. I thought about it but ran across some black original door panels that were perfect. Look brand new... the only flaw was a small trim at the bottom where someone might have put speakers in their doors, but the trimmed area is so mynute that you hardly can't tell. That's when I decided to go black interior. I think it will look fantastic when I'm finished with it.
