Your a machine Chip. I have maybe half a roll of EZ grind wire left on the spool if you'd like it, I won't be using the welder anytime soon.

Thanks Scott, but I literally pass the weld store on the way home, just gonna pick up a 2# of -6 to get me by. Here's a coincidence, Flyin' Ryan just bought an old coupe to build and we got hold of a buddy of his that works for Airgas and he's gonna order us 2 spools, as of an hour before your post. Ha! Besides, I'd hate to take it off you, that stuff ain't cheap! Hope you can make it to the Nats with us. We'll meet you at Vic's, jump in with Boppa!

Cool. I'll be there at the truck nationals for sure. I appreciate the offer to let me ride with Boppa. If Katina doesn't go with me I'd be happy to ride with Boppa. I think she is hooked now though, she wants a suburban like Leon's ( Loc Doc ) now

If you have an 87 with a v8 and 3/8 fuel line, you're in luck! Just use all the 87 stuff and upgrade to the ep381 pump. No mods needed! You have to get the line(s) from the donor truck and compression fit them dudes together, but thats it.

You'd think so.. However I am making it more complicating for myself. I am using almost the entire 01 donors wiring harness b/c I am bringing over the instrument cluster, steering column and a few other things.

I need the pump assy to send correct signal to the 01 cluster, also need pressure sensor and all that jazz.

Also, I cut the top mount ring out of the donor truck tank and then cut my existing tank, dollied the top flat and made a thick mount ring (had it done, but you can do it at home) for the inside of the tank, then made a sheet rubber gasket for the top of the tank and bolted that sucker together. Easy peasy. Be mindful of your vertical clearance, I had lots.

Nice!! Sounds like the route I will be taking!! Just need a giant hole saw!!

Pressure sensor in feed tube? Interesting.

I still need my sending unit to send correct signal to the 01 cluster (90-240 ohms I think) instead of what the 87 sending unit sends (0-120 I think..)

You should be able to put the sensor on the side of the feed tube, good to go!

Ach, I meant the gas gauge sensor. My '02 had no tank pressure sensor. I cut my approx 4" hole with a common jigsaw blade in a body saw.

Note: I drained the tank, then filled it with water, then sawed it. Leaving it full of water was a great help in dollying it.

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

Update: Finished the airbox mount and painted it. This truck has not had backup lights since we put the van column in, 15 years ago. So after a bit of tutelage from Eric, I pulled the column and put a new pair of holes in, so we should have a neutral safety switch. Yes, there's one in the PRNDL, but Eric said I have to have some kind of relays and have to find some kinda wire and OY, that sounds complicated. I just fixed it from the truck end. Hopefully gonna start makin' some tracks you can see!

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

Update! Got the column repainted, and the battery box and hood latch repainted last night, and got the fitting to hook up the oil pressure gauge. Tried to get the oil pressure sensor out, but couldn't get a socket on it and I was tired. Oh, called CAA and got all the missing parts on the way. I promise, I'll try to take more pics.

Re: Old Yeller's new heart-5.3/4l60 swap!

Off night, didn't pick up a camera. Got a bunch of small misc. spray bombed, got the oil sending unit pulled, drilled, tapped, and reinstalled, and got the column loosely reinstalled. We shove it right up to the cluster, so we have to wait till it's back in to lock the column down. I think I'm gonna wade into tranny lines tonight. Pray for me.

I can't wait to see what solution you come up with because mine is patched together and I'm going to have to buy something and rework it more than likely.
I found this thread today it might help you out.
