http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=452378

Started the info there...but here we go...Pics and more pics to come

454 got blown up so they put a 350 in it...then blew it up as well

They also left the 454 sept. belt brackets and rigged them with 2 bolts too the small block..Now that wasn't to bright...but i have the rite brackets i need to go back 454..th400

It will be getting a frame off over the next few months..Long term redo..so it will get done right..after all it is still a rare truck.

Re: TN 1990 454 SS Rebuild

you gonna ditch thoise clear corners when you redo it or keep them? I'd like a set like that for my truck, figured if you ditch em I'd call dibs on them first lol.

So what's with the fog lights? I remember the other thread it has the stuff just not the right valance or what?

Re: TN 1990 454 SS Rebuild

It has the fog lite switch..but they are missing so i will hunting those up..

It has an aftermarket hood and fender on it...mabye wrecked someone down the road..but not bad..

Sheet metal can all be fixed..back..

It still has the trim tag on the firewall..that other trucks that age do not have ..located right above the brake booster.

It will be about a week before i can even get started on it..I have to paint a 98 excab 4x4 truck and put the whole interior in it this week..so i will be busy for a while..

I will keep you all updated..

Re: TN 1990 454 SS Rebuild

Got the all important paper for it today...so now i can start the teardown to see what i have...

I have 1 week more on a 97 reg cab shortbed 350 vortec truck with only 89,000 miles on it , it needed a door and a bedside..about have it ready for new paint. When the 97 is done..its 454SS time.

I wish there was a way to find out a sequintial production number to find out what truck it is..In the order they were built..Just the 454 SS's that is..

Any idea where they hid a build sheet on these?

I may put the motor/trans in it and take it to bristol dragway here in a few weeks..to see what it will do..

Re: TN 1990 454 SS Rebuild

i wish they keep the 454 until 96 at least so that there would be some with the rounded interior. love to have one but not crazy about the square interior.

Re: TN 1990 454 SS Rebuild

I am going to clean out the shop..And let the teardown begin..

The blown 350 is coming out..the 700R4 will be for sale..and the truck can get its 454 status back..why someone would put a 350 in it..anyway/??

That's a great deal on the truck! Looks fairly straight, even if it's been a bit butchered.

GM didn't keep track of the 454SS's, only the quantity ordered. In 1990, there were over 16,000 of them built and the quantity decreased greatly over the next 3 years. Make sure the VIN has an N in the middle, that's the biggest giveaway that it was built to be a 454SS with the 14 bolt rear, bucket seats, upgraded/heavy duty suspension, boat anchor 454 engine and TH375 trans.

If you go to www.454ss.com you can find some info there on the truck that's more specific also. Good luck with the build! Look forward to seeing you bring her back into shape.

Shame it has to go. Engine looks great. Clean it up and you should get a good price for it
