And for updates, nothing new other than money. I finally got to talk to him and he moved up one rank and gets more pay for their location. So he is having our Dad pull money from his account and getting it to me for parts. This truck will have 8" polished stainless stacks now. He wants twin turbos since he will be driving it back to Ca. The 3" body lift is going bye bye with the ford ZF 5 speed. I will be installing a NV4500 with a NP205. Now I just have to find another darn NP205 from a 1990-1993 dodge with a getrag trans. Hopefully soon I can talk my old boss into painting it and getting this thing rolling.

Yeah. My mom called me and told me it is giving him something to look forward to because his girl friend won't answer her phone now. So, I guess he can spend the money on this thing.

Thanks. Right now I am trying to locate a dodge 29 spline NP205 for it. They are few and far between. Lucky me.

Re: Project USMC K20 4x4

I looked that up a few weeks ago to see if a np205 would mount up to a NV4500 (because that stock dodge chain driven transfer case is a POS), and sure enough someone has already done it there on the internet. The only thing I didn't see is if you could put the newer dodge yokes on the np205 so you could have the larger u joints and drive shafts.

Re: Project USMC K20 4x4

Which chain drive dodge unit is a POS? The 241dld is mighty strong for what it is. My friend's truck has 500+hp 950+ftlbs with a single turbo and sled pulls and hasn't had an issue yet. The DHD's are really tough. You'd be surprised what they'll take. The only problem is, they unload on the LH side so you can't use them on these old chevy trucks. You need the rh drop style.

Well we've been looking for another dodge cummins, and two or three trucks that we've driven have had the transfer cases shot, these were in 02-06 years with 6 speeds.

Those should be 271's or 273's and they are stronger yet. but like anything else, they can break or wear out.

Just wondering, but are you on the "cumminsforum" im sure you are since you have a cummins in everything including a corvette. PS Your next project should be a cummins powered prius.

Re: Project USMC K20 4x4

I was a mechanic in the Marine Corps and its going to be hard for him to change jobs. He will most likely have to re-enlist to do a "lat move". I remember the days of being a single Marine and having a disposible income haha. At least he is spending it right.....unlike most of us haha.

Well lately he has been blowing his money again and we're trying to finish his 92 ford to send out to him. He can't figure out why it isn't out there yet? I keep asking him how his money keeps vanishing from his checking account from Ca?

Re: Project USMC K20 4x4

The tranny is a dodge nv4500 from a diesel. Needs an input and main shaft. I have everything except bellhousing. Was going to rebuild and use then found a complete one w/transfer case. It is 4X4.

I will. He might be coming home for Thanksgiving to pick up his 92 F-350 and I'll tell him then.

The wheels on the truck I believe are discontinued Ultra's, but I don't know for sure.

No, sorry not on this truck. We did get his 92 Ford running again and then it lost a lobe off the cam. So that's another day's project. However, I did go to the body shop where the chevy is, and it is still resting in pieces. It's on the list, but not soon I'm afraid.
