Thanks. I just drove it around for our cruise weekend. Cops every corner. Never got pulled over! Had a coolent hose off the intake blow off and spray some car. gave the guy 20 bucks for a carwash.

Truck has some serious electrical issues.. And the battery dies too quick. The ALT ran fine on my old truck? Must be connection. Also, I need more money. If anyone has a diagram on the alternator feel freee to post it here,

Figured out the issues and i'm driving it around a bit... These TH350 are really bad going 80kms/hr. Likes to rev real high?

I'm not sure if my T-case is in 4low or not.. It could be. I don't have the shifter bolt up. Missing the bolt.

Granted, a 350 is a non-lockup, non-OD transmission. Unless you have a lockup 350... Can only hope for so much.

No i got rid of my ****ty 350C and did up a regular th350. Its got a 2500 stall, stage 2 shift kit. kevlar clutches. new bushing, the whole 9 yards. Deep pan, big cooler.

I have been really bad for not updating theis build thread. Sorry guys, Tomorrow i'll post pictures of what i've been doing.

Well I'm having electrical issues now.. Guess its time to do that next.. Also in the middle of replacing the starter with a remanufactured one. I've also been doing a little painting. I really wish I can get the crap out the back at the junkyard. But the truck doesn't seem to last till the weekend without something going wrong. I've now just decided i'm gonna rewire the whole truck before doing anything.

Don't give up, dude. Just get it running reliably and then you can do the rest at a calmer pace. What electrical issues are you having? Might not need to rewire the whole thing. Crazy electrical issues can usually be traced to bad grounds. I had similar issues with mine. Check all your grounds, may need to install some extra grounds to the frame here and there.

Electrical issues are wierd. sometimes they happen sometimes they dont. I can't get the wiring to my starter to work. And my brake lights work sometimes, not always. And when the switch is pulled out i get no light at all in the tailights. The headlights sometimes flicker rapidly. My turn signals sometimes works. Sometimes the truck won't shut off.. gotta go pull the ignition wiring off the distributor.

This truck is getting old real quick...

Since my last post, i've gotten everything off in the back of the cab. New starter, new Oil pan.

Figured out why my alternator is charging my battery.. The alternator isn't hooked up to the battery at all..

Taillights still don't work

Tried putting a new oil pan gasket on tonight... It was all going good till i went to do the last bolt.. I guess the damn peice of gasket decided it didn't want to co operate.

Haven't found a bolt yet for the transfer case shifter. (hoping that works out so i can drive on the highway.)

My transmission leaks like a SOB. Can't get that quite figured out.

And to top it all off. I only get about an hour of daylight, after that frustration kicks in.




I'm almost ready to give up and just send it off somewhere to be finished.

Hoping this new master cylinder will fix the back brakes not getting any fluid problem.


Got this box since i lost mine somewhere. Tried hooking it up and all I hear is a loud click(Fuse must have went) And I busted the heater core tubes.


Painted interior pieces with flat black rollbar paint... Turned out way better then i thought it would.


New starter fixed the problem of not wanting to start when the truck was warm


Went to Partsource looking for a new alternator bracket, and met this cool chick at the counter. She said they didn't sell any but she had some at her house. So I go over to her house and she has a Monte Carlo with a 400sb with a top end on it. I was jealous and surprised and speechless all at the same time hahaha. Anyways, she gave me her old alternator and brackets for free. So i thought hell might as well use them.



Picked up this bumper at a Pick-a-part for 20$ and I painted it. Doesn't seem to be the right fit though.. Seems a little low..

Right now i'm changing out the heater core, Hopefully I remember where everything goes. And I'm needing to bleed the brakes still after the Master Cylinder install. After this, i'll need to redo the tranny pan gasket, as i over tightened this one, I'm gonna try and use RTV at the same time. My aftermarket oil pan Leaks aswell and I used ALOT of RTV + gasket.. Any advice?

Also, i broke off the dipstick for the engine, inside the block... Any advice on getting it out?

Those babys are the winner winner chicken dinner when it comes to sealing an oil pan!

The dip stick is a pain... Out of the truck i have taken a large framing nail and pounded it between the remainder of dipstick and the block to fold it away from the block. Then i was able to pull it out with a set of pliers. I would hate to do it in the truck tho...

I'd work on the oil dipstick while you have the oil pan off resealing it.

I cant guarntee it, but id the pan was designed to use stock gaskets then it should.

I tried lasttime and ended up ripping the rest of it off.. So now the only peice of dipstick is that is actually in the block.

Hey get some cast iron colored spray paint and spray that master cylinder before it turns to rust, then it will look like new for years. (as long as you don't spill any brake fluid on it)

Got the heater core changed and everything back in. Nice and warm now. When i turned the blow on bunch of dust came into my face. hahaha. It was like my truck was blowing me kisses.

Just waiting on my oil pan gasket to come in, and going to redo my tranny pan gasket.

Also got a proportioning valve coming in and after that my back brakes better work or im lost as to whats wrong with it.

UPDATE:
Got all the leaks figured out, and got the brakes working great. So after getting everything figured out. I decided it was right to start the fun stuff. I found some tires and rims on my local classifieds and went and picked them up. The seller was a real cool guy and had these tires on a 86 shortbox stepside that he bought new in 86. The truck looked great. Anyways feel free to drool over these pictures.. Also, i think i need fenderflares and mud flaps....
