Before the new inner cowl....pic dosent do it justice....there was rot all across the front. If I hadn't put all the time in the rockers and cab corners....I would have looked for another cab.

Great rust repair, that sure was a sweet rig in the day! It'll be even better with the newer drive train and new found power train.

Re: 69 gmc dually soon to be 12valve

It's hard to work on your shop when it's filled with projects. I have that issue too. You sure did do a lot of rust repair to the cab. Nice work!

Re: 69 gmc dually soon to be 12valve

Yeah....it was a challenge moving the truck over here...then back over there... lol! Didn't need the ladder with the truck in the shop! I used garage door panels to insulate. Wanted to do that for years. I'm loving having the outdoor wood stove heating the garage now :-)

Re: 69 gmc dually soon to be 12valve

Truck had the 350 with only 40,000 miles with the np435 trans, divorced transfer case, pto winch with the eaton axels. Would this be the power package that NAPCO offered?

Re: 69 gmc dually soon to be 12valve

The rear axle would have been the stock rear axle. Does your SPID list the R05 option? Being a 3500 it would hae been an H072. Checking the axle code on the carrier will help confirm that.

Up front NAPCO built axles based on the H052 centersection.
Additionally they supplied the Dana t-case, lift block/stops, front spring mounts and hangers/brace, engine crossmember mod. parts ect. The PTO and the winch are of course options added to the basic "conversion" 4x4 parts.

As a package conversion the stock engine, trans and rear axle were used without modification. Even the park brake cables used the 4x2 guides and frame dimples.

Re: 69 gmc dually soon to be 12valve

Looks nice. It looks like you made a wise choice and got a cross member from AW. I haven't used a vintage air for these trucks. But, I know a few local guys who have and they love them.

Re: 69 gmc dually soon to be 12valve

Yeah, I think I could of fabricated the crossmember to the first gen mounts. I looked up autoworld and called them. They are awesome to deal with. Great people....it's my first go around with a conversion. I want to get it right. Just wondered about the vintage air....it would clean up the firewall a bit and give me more room. Pricey tho lol!

Re: 69 gmc dually soon to be 12valve

The only downside to any aftermarket heat/air is that they use inside cab air. Therw is no fresh air option which make defrosting windows using the heat function very challenging.
