OUCH! The part only costs a few bucks. It's located above the left side valve cover. It's bolted to the coil. Disconnect the distributor wire and harness. Unbolt the bracket hold coil and ignition module. Seperate them, and replace the module. 20 minute job!!

Re: 2000 jimmy ignition help

I'm coming from a different angle on this one-are you getting good oil pressure while cranking? If the ECM does not see enough oil pressure while cranking, it will not kick the fuel pump relay on or fire the drivers for the injectors. If the ign module doesn't change anything, try changing the oil pressure switch/sensor and/or inspect the wiring for it.

Re: 2000 jimmy ignition help

Did the mechanic mention it does not have spark? If so then, yes the ignition module has failed.
Quick test. Pour a little fuel down the TB. Crank it. If it runs for a few seconds, spark is good, fuel delivery is bad.

Re: 2000 jimmy ignition help

i recommend checking out s10forums for problems with your model and year. I have a 2000 gmc jimmy 2dr 2wd 5 speed and let's just say that these vehicles have some pretty common problems. Almost all of my searches end up in those forums reading problem descriptions exactly like those i was about to write. Like said above, spray some fuel down and see if it ignites to test if ignition is working or not.

Re: 2000 jimmy ignition help

So, what is the problems that you are having with it? Does it start and run? What are the issues. Then I may be able to give you a little help on figuring the issue out.
