Re: craigslist truck with hickey hood

Liking your style and thought process on the blazer. I am collecting hickey pieces for my jimmy build. I bought that eagle ventures hood from the last pic shown. Still looking for the elusive d44 front hickey diff cover. Trevor

About period correct accessories...If I have to explain you won't understand. Either you get it or you don't. Heck,I love the music from 67-72 and that all ties into my passion for these trucks. This was a great era in my life all around and the trucks are just part of it.

Re: craigslist truck with hickey hood

I'm with you guys, period accessories rock. My hickey collection includes a nos welded brush guard, nos in box sidewinder with cables, hooks etc, a sey of fold down side steps. Now for the boos. They're going on a ford. 1974 quadravan, one of 300 for the year. It came with hickey aux tanks (95 gallon total) and skid plates. Missed the cool winch and bumper in Medford last week. Hope to do a feathered bronco in my future. Also, collecting con-ferr stuff. Matt in Reno

Sounds like you have a pretty nice collection. I see where someone found a stash of NOS Con-Ferr stuff a couple years ago when they purchased an old warehouse. As far as that Cool Hickey setup in Medford...well it should be here Thursday!

Re: craigslist truck with hickey hood

71blksuper4x4 - I got my hood yesterday and am really impressed with the quality of the construction. Its not the rough edged, unfinished underside I was expecting. It appears as though the underside reinforcing framework is made of laminated ABS and plywood layers. It even has insulation between the framework and the fiberglass cover. Fit like a charm and closes more solidly than my OEM hood with what seems like half the weight. Every surface and edge is smooth and finished. Much nicer than some of the fiberglass crap I've seen made these days.

I am running 14 bolt rear and Dana 60 front axles, so I was looking for one of the 14 bolt diff covers. But much to my dismay, I found I can't run the diff cover with my oversized fuel tank, they will hit each other. It even states this in the Hickey catalogue. Oh well...

Re: craigslist truck with hickey hood

Yeah, they are a heavy made fiberglass hood. The only thing I am doing to it, is rounding the body line hood corners in the front so that they match a factory hood more closely, they look almost squared off to an extent. Trevor

Re: craigslist truck with hickey hood

Here are some pics of the hood on my Blazer. Its still pretty dirty on the underside, and the insulation needs to be replaced, but its gell coat is still very nice and no cracks anywhere. I will be painting the entire Blazer back to its original ochre color. Still undecided if I should keep the flat black portion on the hood. If anyone wants additional pics, just let me know.
