what are my options for door panels on my '78?

My '78 Sierra Classic's door panels have been fried by the Texas sun...who makes the best reproductions? Are there ways to restore the originals? Recover them in vinyl maybe? Thanks

Re: what are my options for door panels on my '78?

I believe USA1 Industries is recognized as having colors that match original the best. However, if you want anything quickly, I'm not sure if they're the place for you. Finally got my door bags and headline I ordered in April yesterday.

If they're not cracked or messed up, you can remove all the trim, and get some vinyl dye from USA1 (that does ship fairly quickly), and re-spray them. That's what I did on mine and came out looking really good. If there's dry rot on them, you can use some sandpaper and remove the "dead" plastic. Although you have to watch to not remove too much of the grain pattern.

yeah if the grain is still good you can dye or paint them.

guy out here in New Orleans has a custom mix of paint we used on mine and they are insanely nice and tough.

You if they are structurally sound you can sand the dry part off, and then use bedliner spray over the top from about 15" away fogged on them to get the texture back and then paint over it with some good paint.
