Basically have been doing little things like interior pieces and then boxing them up. Got one bed side just about perfect, don't have much to do on the other bedside, just a patch behind the rear wheel and then I will have all of the body work done.
I don't really have much to show for my progress this time, most of the stuff I did has cleaning up and detailing various nuts and bolts and switches and I don't think anyone wants to see pictures of that. Good part about it is basically everything is ready to install once the body is painted.

Man what a progress!! I have just bought a 72 Jimmy myself and i wonder if the rear fenders are removeable with screws or have you cut them of?
Im waiting on my car...getting it tommorow maybe so havent seen so much on it

you should change you name to Dr. Gee_Emm with the major surgery that you have accomplished....ever count how many pounds of wire and bottles of argon you have gone thru. I'm hopefully about have way thru the welding and have used up 15 pounds of wire.....

Kinda both, they are bolted on in a few places and tack welded in a few spots.

Actually I havent gone thru all that much wire at all, probably not even 2 lbs, cutting wheels on the other hand..........

I didnt really take it off properly, I threw away the enitre body so I pretty much torched everything off.

Thats awesome work

I can totally relate with the amount of work involed getting all the missing metal back to where it should have been on the truck (Blazer) . I removed the entire floor from my 72 all along the firewall and along the back wall. I bought a parts truck and took the floor out of that cab and plug welded it into what was left of my cab. I also patched the box sides the same way only, I used a front fender it worked out perfect. A little filler on the inside and nobody can tell I patched it. It's a good feeling getting to bolt on all the parts onto the freshly painted body. I also got all the small parts boxed up or bubble wraped while I was finishing up the body. My bedroom was full of parts I am just getting it back now. Be sure to use the green 3M tape around the entire area you working it. It will save you lot's of chips. I also found that wrapping the ratchet handle with tape prevent's chips if you become careless and smack the body tighting bolt's.

When do you think you will start blocking it out ? I can't wait to see progress pics.

Gee_Emm, I just discovered this thread and WOW!

I have just purchased my first Blazer and I finally understand how everything fits together from your pictures, Thanks for that Man! I see that you waited a while to get some good patch panels, where did you eventually get them from? What brand are they or did you cut them from another truck? Keep up the good work, and keep me inspired because I have a feeling that I will be using this thread to keep me going and teach me some things.

All of my patch panels came from Christians Classics, he sells Tri-plus brand which are very good quality. They only patches that I have found that they make poorly are the patches for behind the rear wheels. I had to get those cut off an exsiting LWB pickup.

Nope, I am kinda sitting around doing nothing until I get a garage built that I can work on this thing in. Pretty much all of the little parts are done, I just have to put all the sheet metal on and get it painted then assembled. I don't have a place to do that or a place to keep it once it is finished.

Here's another hint a body-friend gave me about wrench/ratchet handles dinging up fresh paint and panels ... use an old piece of heater hose over the handle.
