Positive wire melted on header
Took the 81 out for a spin in the yard. After a quick burnout she just died. Popped the hood and noticed the positive wire had pretty much welded itself on the header. So I then wrapped the positive wire in electric tape, because all the insulation had melted off, made sure everything was clear, and tried to fire her up and got nothing but a click. Is it possible that when it shorted it may have damaged other components or do I just need another positive wire? Really appreciate any help. Thanks

Re: Positive wire melted on header
Could you test with a different battery? or recharge yours? Hope your battery survived that short.

Re: Positive wire melted on header
IMO a new cable will help, but if you say just the insulation got burnt, check all connections. The heat from the short might effect some contact on the starter &/or battery terminals.

Re: Positive wire melted on header
could have melted the battery although it started another truck I would still test your truck with a different battery. If you are getting a click sound this usually means a weak battery. could have possibly melted down your starter as well since the wire you melted goes directly to the starter. those are the two things I would try if you don't have this figured out yet.
