Re: Project '86

Oh ...... I wasn't being a wise guy ..... I thought the set up really looked functional as to the set up he was running. Thumbs up baby .... I wish I had the nads to cut mine up that way. Possibly you didn't catch my sincere tone.

KuDos to DV8Customs for the whole outside build. I've been impressed so far.

Re: Project '86

Great build man! Can you tell us why you lowered the front section of the frame more than 2" if in fact you only did a 2" Z?

Re: Project '86

Not really... I initially moved the front fram horns down 2" just like the Z but that made the core support way to high. What I ended up doing was bolting the fenders to the cab and core support and got everything aligned. Then I tacked the front frame horns in place. I think they ended up being about an inch lower for some reason. Not sure why, but it works.

Cab mounts were still riveted on when I did the Z and frame horns. Even after I redid the frame for the BD I put the cab mounts back in the stock location. I don't know why they are different but I do know it works

Re: Project '86

Thats weird, maybe the front crossmember had something to do with it. Bad ass truck anyhow.

Re: Project '86

Finally got a chance to do a little work again. Got the transmission cross member in. Still need to fab some motor mounts and then I can put the actual transmission mount on the cross member.

Then I notched my front cross member a bit so my bags wouldn't rub.

I found someone to swap my drop spindles with so next week I will be going back to stock spindles. This will help me with lift and give me back some camber which I need.(Spindles are off and front wheels are just leaned against arms)

Re: Project '86

Plumbing looks clean. Is the bed notched to fit over the tube that runs over the frame? I like that touch since the bed will cover it up.

The bed is high enough to clear all the plumbing.

Started the 2-1/4" chop today. Using all stock glass except the windshield.

Thanks guys, hope to get a lot more knocked out next weekend. Daylight savings ruins any chance of progress through the week.
