My first though exactly. Or his drinking buddy told him he saw one just like it sell for a lot of money on tv.

Or his wife told him to sell the blasted thing or else so he posted the add so he can honestly tell her he has it up for sale but no takers

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

Let them go up...that just means we will have something sweet if we ever decide to sell. This is how it was for the muscle cars that are now fetching big dollars...i.e. a 69-72 Nova in similar condition goes for about $4000 to $7000, sometimes without even an engine or tranny...

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

That's been common for quite some time around here. The 6500 price is a bit high, but I can pull up several on our local C/L that are that rough our worse and they are asking 3500-4500.

I just love how it's listed as a Chevy Shortbed GMC..... Reminds me of the Guy I saw once Driving a Buick with Calvin Peeing on a Chevy Symbol.

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

But...if one is patient there are still good buys to be had. That GMC has what I call a flag pole price.

The values of our trucks have gone up but I don't think we have reached this level yet.

I agree, other than I am not done collecting everything I want yet! I prefer to buy low and sell high...actually I don't like to sell anything. Let me get a 72 3/4ton 4x4 and a 68 swb along with all the original parts I need THEN they can skyrocket as high as they want!

Probably like the "original" 67 on CL here that needed body and paint work for 10K, I thought it was a misprint so I called - no, 10K

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

This reminds me from about 15 years ago I had a 65 oldsmobile cutlass and blew out the tranny driving like an idiot. I searched and searched to see how much it would be worth and everyone told me its worth crap so I sold it for 1k and the next thing a few years later the darn car was selling for around 30k WTF i lost my @ss apprently and they are still selling strong.
but here is the other thing. everyone here is saying these trucks are not really worth all that much and selling them for almost nothing to some people. that is what keeps the price down so much and these trucks so cheap and not worth almost anything even after we have put all our hard work and money into them. its nice to have something easy to work on and cheap to work on but then again. look at how many want them and they are almost impossible now to find a good decent deal on one of your liking. thats why some people have priced them so high. least thats the way it is over here in california. people always wanting something for nothing. Not trying to piss anyone off here Just sayin IMO. I also wouldn't pay this much either though lol. but im sure if its running they didn't mis-price the thing. by all means this is not to piss anyone off. but im sure ill hear about it LOL

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

I know this guy personally and he thinks that everything he has is worth "pure gold", he has about 8 or 9 67-72 trucks. I have tried to buy some parts from him a couple of times and he is always way off what something is worth.

I disagree,

http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/cto/2176190348.html

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/2177720437.html

http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/cto/2179251803.html

And these are all in the wet country. Most definitely decent deals, the second one is closest to that truck and he is asking $1500. Just throwing it out there.

Can't judge the value of these trucks by one goofball's ad. Whoever wants these prices to go up,I suggest you go buy gold. That's what a wise investor would do.
