Wait a minute, lets not forget the ones that come with the "Rare Corvette Option". They are getting super hard to find now-a-days.

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

This is not What you all don't know is this truck as the ultra rare Corvette Option. Just kidding

I wonder if this is the case where...
a) He doesn't really want to sell his truck
b) He has no clue to the value of his truck
c) He was given bad advice from his friends about the truck's value
d) Watching to much Barrett Jackson
e) He has emotional ties to this truck
f) He bought thje truck cheap and trying to make a few $$$
g) He bought it for to much and now he is trying to get his $$$ back
Just some ideas???

The sad part is to many people want way to much money for these trucks and associated parts because they don’t really know the values which is why this forum is such a good place to learn from and to buy from.

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

Well, consider the fact that these trucks are 40 years old. Toss in the natural attrition rate of any auto design with 4 decades on the road. Then consider that trucks were once used for hard WORK, not blvd cruising, thus making their serviceable lifespan even shorter than say, a '69 Caddy or comparable year model.

Also consider the fact that those of us who grew up loving and owning these trucks from way back when have now seen hundreds of thousands, if not millions of new admirers join our ranks to swell the demand for what was once not so desireable.

Most importantly, consider the crux of the issue in terms of an annual inflation rate 3-5% over 40 years, making your dollar next to worthless, and yeah.....they ARE getting more expensive .

I think the next big trend may become Chrysler K cars. I reckon we'd better get busy hoarding.

Ok for those who think the 69 for $6500 is a fair price she's yours...as for me I'll go with Loc Doc's 67 truck for $7000. Enough said. I rest my case.

Thanks guys.

As far as trucks like the '69 above I think it's all in where you live and how far you are able to travel to pick one up. If you shop around you can pick up a pretty nice running, driving truck for $5-7K that you wouldn't be ashamed to take to any cruise night. You just can't get in a hurry to buy.

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

$6500.00 is steep for that vehicle. A shortwide to a longbed is a drastic difference in price. Plus its a GMC. Nothing against the GMC, but the demand is higher for the Chevy. It looks a little rough. If running it's a $1500.00 to $2500.00 at the most. But that's just my opinion.

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

There was one posted on CL here last month, needed body and paint work, 10K. Thinking it was a misprint, I called. Nope, 10K.

Ended up picking up a clean 68 C20 for $650 instead. I think I can do a lot with the $9350 left over.

Re: Truck Prices getting out of hand.....

Another point...the trucks will sale for whatever people will pay for them. Good buys are out there but as LockDoc said...patience, patience, patience.
