window regulator replacement

Has anyone replaced a regulator without having to remove the vent window assembly and side window glass? Seems like it might be possible???

If you remove the screws from the rear metal glass channel (one at the top and two at the bottom) and move it out of the way you could probably do it. You would have to figure out a way to hold the glass up after you removed it from the lower rollers, so you could get the regulator out.

That is what I was thinking. Holding the glass up should work with duct tape over the top of the frame.
