Re: Scratch building an 85 K5 RC

I'd be interested in watching how a kit is done and how you detail it...

Thank you Ol Blue K20, or may I call you Dale ? I think I will start a new thread here shortly.

A couple pictures of the Blazer, this is the part that kills me, the detailing and the stuff that pops out after you put color on it. I need to work on the front of the passenger fender and the top of the cab, before I go on.

Anyway...

Now I need to relax, and back up 5 yards and punt, and stop hurrying, or build another kit to change the pace.

Thank you dieseldawg !! I made the bumpers stock looking, out of styrne. its cheaper.

You're right, its not cheap, its a good thing I make a decent check and my wife loves me.

and "yes" the jeep is 1|24 th. The Blazer is 18.5 inches long bumper to bumper..once I get them on.

I'm not done, but getting much, much closer..

Thank you Dale.

A small update, and I was hoping to be done, but I'm procrastinating. I'm on my 2nd windshield.

I've got the topper windows in and I'm trying to do the trim. This is where the body gets beat up, from me trying to do the final touches to give it life, rolling it around the bench trying to get all the accessories glued on. Its not one of my favorite parts of this, the finesse stuff. I'm too heavy handed or shaky sometimes, but once it gets dirty, the boo boo's disappear.

Re: Scratch building an 85 K5 RC

Well, I'm calling it finished, mostly. I took it for a test spin out in the driveway.

Thank you Dale ! I know, I'm a little behind on a response. I have been side tracked with my Jeep.

Anyway the flooding went down in Salt Creek finally and I was able to get the Blazer out for a test drive. I had no problems, which is great because it gets heavy to carry after awhile.

I made a video, of course..
