Flo-master 50 series review

Well redid my exhaust system with the following.
2 1/4 alluminized pipes , duals
series 50 flomasters 5 inch thick and about 2 ft long.
Mufflers was just before rear axle on longbed
tips came out on rear corners of bed

over all not as quiet as i was hoping,does have a nice sound i guess if your a younger guy who wants a hot rod sound. Pretty loud if you floor it like to pass somebody on highway. My engine is a stock 350 4bbl

i,ve got several comments on how good it sounds but to me its too noisey. Hope this helps somebody

Thanks for the review and information. Do you have a crossover pipe? I bet a H-type pipe would make it a little quieter and add a little low end power.

Waste of time with stock engine

My truck has the 40's and was very loud and droned pretty bad. They mellowed down after several hundred miles as the carbon buildup softens the reverb. Mine have the H pipe and 2 1/2 tube.

I'm with you Bob. I have had and do not care for the blomaster sound. My 69 stepside with 350 has dual 2 1/4" with turbo muffs and tails out the back. I really don't care for it's sound either. I grew up in the 60s when glasspacks got you the sound you wanted on small and big blocks. One of the most pleasing other sounds I had was I put a pair of Hemi mufflers behind my 350 Olds with turn downs behind the muffs. Quiet idle and NO drone but had bark when called for.

Yes! If you wanted flow with little sound, that was what you used. I bought a Flowmaster exhaust system for my '72 Pontiac Le Mans, and my sons would laugh that they could hear me coming from a block away. I put a pair of Cherry Bombs on it, but it was going to be my wife's car, and she still thought it was too loud. I ended up going to Magic Muffler, and they put different mufflers on it. 2-1/4 Flowmasters! I could immediately tell a difference in WOT performance. I ended up gutting the Le Mans because of rust, and putting the system on my hot rod '68 Skylark California GS, and just lived with it until I sold it. When I do the exhaust on my truck, it'll be Caddy mufflers. Though I don't know if the exhaust will ever have to be replaced, in my lifetime. If I get too old, it won't be me doing it.

I really struggled with the exhaust decision and waivered between 40 and 50 flowmaster delta flow.

Here's what I did. Maybe help someone on a search later
1970 c10
350/350 auto.
Mostly stock engine. New intake, hei, and eddy 600 carb
Installed summit ceramic long tube headers
Flowmaster 40 series delta flow
2 1/4" pipe
"H" pipe.
Exhaust out back bumper.
Definitely kinda loud but certainly not obnoxious
On a hot day with engine warm they are actually quiet unless you mash the pedal then it roars a bit.
Sound in gear at idle is very nice! No drone at any speed and can listen to tunes no problem
I read that mangaflow are tame sounding until you put the pedal into it but don't have personal experience with them
I'm very happy with it my set up. If I want quiet I drive my '06 gmc

Nice truck. Did your wife notice what a dong magnet the truck is? When my wife noticed how many guys took an interest in our old truck on every drive she said "I should have gotten one of these when I was single."

I have 3 inch Flowmaster 50s on my 78 shorty, they dump straight down on the axle. It was installed by PO.

High school me would have loved them, now I am less a fan. I live in a quiet neighbourhood and I feel like a jerk every time I start it.

I don't like the volume, but I like the tone. Thinking of adding an H pipe and maybe putting some sort of diffuser on them too.

When I had the single exhaust on it I had a basic walker quiet muffler.
Just a touch of rumble but quiet.
