Re: Another one came home

grendel.... I'm glad to see that the cab made it to your location. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it, but I'm glad to know that it's going to be used in a great project.

Best of luck!

You're more than welcome to it. That cab I bought is NOT "ready for paint" as he stated. There's more bondo in it than I have in my entire tow rig project. In the windshield frame, in the rear corners.

From the guys doing the body work:

"Thick areas of mud, panels not properly welded, neither inner kick panel is complete, windshield frame has a lot of mud, drivers side lower 'A' pillar is 1/2" away from the outer rocker...etc.
All that and we haven't even looked underneath yet...

Going up today and pulling the interior out of the GMC for a better look but after looking it over on Monday, I'm thinking it's an easier repair than the yellow cab in the long run."

I am PISSED.

Re: Another one came home

I asked Kurt to email them. I will post them when I get them.

After I want to delete these posts, as this is supposed to be about my father's truck rodstoration, not about a cab I can't use.

I hope so. Here's some pictures for your viewing pleasure, of this cab that's "ready for paint" Notice the rust in the first two pictures? Yeah, that's coming from UNDER the bondo.

Re: Another one came home

More: I post these, because it's a part of this rodstoration, I guess. I won't be doing anything with this cab and it's costing me substantial money that limits my ability to really do this.

History, I guess.

Re: Another one came home

I offered a full refund for the cab. Once i get the cab he will get his money back.
I also offered a partial refund and him keep the cab.. This guy is very hard to work with.. I dont know what more he wants.. Trying to make it right but does not seem to be working so well.

I really wish I would have just sold this locally.

Read your email.
You know it would cost me another 600.00 in addition to the 1200 (total) I already spent to get it back to you.

You also know that I don't want to keep this cab.

Re: Another one came home

So, Kurt and I decided we're moving forward with the original cab my father rebuilt years ago.

We're ordering new patch panels, which will include floors, inner and outer rockers, a rear window patch and firewall work.

Yurgh.

Re: Another one came home

Not trying to be a monday morning quarterback; or side with one guy or another but here is how I buy used sheetmetal. I only buy it if it is in the factory paint. If it has primer or new paint I stay away like the plague. Obviously something with factory paint isnt hiding something where the other could be and usually is. I understand that it is not easy to find factory untouched sheetmetal but it is usually worth the wait and the extra price. Just what I do.
