Re: 1964 Impala

20 gallon tank?

Does running 2 compressors require an upgraded alternator?

Did you notice any handling improvements or changes with the tubular arms?

I appreciate the info.

Re: 1964 Impala

I'll see if I can find the link to the tank. I'm not sure that tubular arms helped as much as the bushings not being worn out! Seems to handle pretty well now. I would think you wouldn't have to do an alternator upgrade, mine is a 100 amp SI if I remember correctly. I'm planning a dual battery setup in the trunk with a regulator to keep all aftermarket electrical seperate from the normal car operations(I.e. starting). But the compressors definately need to be ran off a relay.

Nice... Looks like a great setup!

So I cut the upper mounts to a wedge shape to get them to point more vertical rather than rearward. Cut the protrutions off the rear end, mounted up the new bags and bolted all back together. More better! Don't mind the zip ties... didn't have time to fab the bolt down tab for the e-brake cables.
Very nice job! I like the turn out.

Re: 1964 Impala

Been working on this a bit as of late, Got a valve changed in the air ride and installed a cable shifter conversion for the powerglide to 350 conversion. Now I can actually shift into all the gears where as before I only had P,R,N and D. I'll get some pics up soon.

Re: 1964 Impala

So here's the long story... I bought this kit about 15 years ago for my other car, decided to use it on this one so I had all three drive gears instead of just drive. Cable was bad when I opened it, of corse no receipt and the company didn't believe the 15 year story so ordered a new one and a few things that had changed since the original kit. Worked on it for awhile this afternoon until the 60 dollar neutral safety switch broke. no one in town had one on a sunday so I did some tinkering and used some old parts in the new switch and got it all working. Now I have P,R,N,D,L2, and L1 and my reverse lights work. Just need to vacuum the car and put the new A Arms onand she's ready for some sun! Now for the pics....

Re: 1964 Impala

Oh man... I forgot about this thread... I've made a few changes to the car!

Painted it, pin striped it, new wheels, skirts, interior... the list goes on and on.

And... the shop is finished, and filled. And now we are over flowing out the doors... good problem to have I suppose! Here's some pics for you guys.

White car in the pics above is my first Impala. We put it back together last year to make a driver out of it just because.
