Anyone can buy a custom truck, but when you build it with your own 2 hands, and see it outperform a 20,000-30,000 dollar vehicle that someone else bought, you cant help but smile!

I dont really mean to be rude or to start an arguement but do you know of the power that a diesel makes? I know many people that get "smoked" EVERYTIME by a cummins and they have 460's and 454's cammed, ignition..etc

You make a good point. I wasn't bashing diesels, I think diesels are cool and they make excellent power. I was saying that I would rather have my truck then some brand new truck that spoiled kids parents buy for them.

Re: Calling all high school 67-72 owners!

Oh i know diesels CAN make some serious power if built up, Im just tired of all the hype at school where most kids with diesels think BLACK SMOKE=POWER, when in reality they are slow, and only tuned to roll coal, not to actually perform. Trust me, I do like diesels, One day I want to build a 93 dodge first gen dually ex cab with a 6BT cummins, bosch pump, and a 6 speed. But until I can afford that, ill stick with my chevy!

I get alot of differant comments on my truck. Some people dont understand why I drive a old truck and think its a piece of crap but i just laugh because there a quite of cars and trucks in worse condition then my truck and the are 30+ years newer than mine. And some people like my truck alot.

Here's my baby
Before white top

After with white top
Sharp Truck man. Love the blacked out, white top, chrome rim look. I'm about a generation ahead of you guys (graduated in '00). I always drove the next generation of GM trucks when I was in high school. I had an '81 GMC that was two tone (silver metallic flake and gloss black. Black on the roof and below the trim) that got a LOT of attention when I went to school. Sadly some jerk in an old beatup Aerostar van pulled out in front of me and I swerved to miss him, went down an enbankment and the truck went on it's top. The LONG way (stood up on it's grill). Anyway, I got another (then another ) but sold my last truck my junior year of college. Just couldn't afford the gas to drive it back and forth from college and home all year. ALWAYS wanted one of these body styles though, even in high school. They were just too expensive for one that wasn't completely rusted out even then. But I finally got mine and couldn't be happier. Going to update it's older interior restoration, maybe do a little more with the 400 small block thats in it and hold on to it. And for those of you with orange trucks, yes they definitely get noticed!

NOT A 67-72 BUT Im young.

Im 18, class of 2010 i just got my 1st truck its a 1988 Suburban 3/4ton..ectect..

My first car was a 73 Chevelle I was restroring but got outta hand in cost. i rebuilt the drivetrain to about 425 horse. did everything in my parents garage

-The Suburban is getting a lot of work soon, it has a stock drivetrain 350TBI/TH400 with NP-208 and 14 Bolt with 10 bolt front.

the plan is a Dana60 front with crossover steering a dual transfercase kit, LQ9 Motor with head/cam E85 and a magnacharger and a built 4L80E with stall from Monster transmissions. custom bumpers with winches, fogs, air lockers, 91 front clip, snorkle and more.

i have the upper grill trim, and i dont know if i want to get chrome bumpers. i like the beefy look with these bumpers with the 35's. and im probably going to get the same style mirrors, just because i like these, but they vibrate SO much.

maybe ill get a thread going.
