Re: Aluminum rim polish: Mother or Blue Magic or ?

I had some aluminum rims polished professionally a few years back.

When I went to pick them up, the polisher was cleaning them up after the last machine polish. He had a roll of toilet paper and a box of cornstarch. He'd fold up a handful of toilet paper, sprinkle some cornstarch on it and use it to hand polish the rim. There was a whole pile of toilet paper on the floor, black with aluminum oxide.

I've tried it at home after polishing bare rims with met-all and it worked pretty good to bring the final finish up and remove all the residual polish.

YMMV
