Re: 52 Chev Panel....repairable?

Some more good metalwork..
Matt..the 1 tons were the same as 1/2 tons...the wider longer fenders were on the trucks larger than 1tons

Great job, do you use your english wheel to roll all your panels? or do you have a slip roller?

Re: 52 Chev Panel....repairable?

I don't have a slip roller, I use the bead roller, wheeling machine and hand tools. make my own dies when I need them, made the slappers out of old leaf springs. You can make wooden forms of parts you need from wood and they will stand up to a few parts and I have a shrinker and stretcher.

Re: 52 Chev Panel....repairable?

The work here in incredible. I mean wow. It's funny you're right so many of the panels you made need tons of modification when bought.

Not going to lie when you said Princess Auto I had to look up where Maynooth was.

Thanks Dave. I bought the English wheel when I lived down south in Peterborough area. In fact all the work you have seen here was done in my shop near Omemee (another place to look up). Since I moved here August 1st 2019 I haven't worked on it since. A larger shop is in the works for spring.

I found 2 more Pictures to show here, these I believe these are the last for now.

Re: 52 Chev Panel....repairable?

Found some more pictures you guy's and Gal's might enjoy....Different way to do a graft but seems to work. It's of o a 67Chev 1/2ton. The reason I widened the front fenders, will likely have to widen rear fenders as well. Will also have to wait till motor and rad are mounted to see how much the front springs compress.

It's been awhile since I have been on here, house project is taking more time then I figured on. Have to wait till spring and see what falls out of the snow....Keep the shiny side down and keep working on something....Roy

Re: 52 Chev Panel....repairable?

I fully understand. If home repair costs don't kill ya, trying to get materials, appliances and labor will. We waited for 4 months to get a dishwasher and now 2 months trying to get the house (cabin) painted.

My 98% complete Ad sits in its new garage ready to run. Even then i have been reluctant to drive it since the wheels fell off the country.

Re: 52 Chev Panel....repairable?

I can relate to what you say....Not sure if it's fortunate or unfortunate ....I do pp% of my own repairs...from plumbing, electrical, Flooring, Drywall, Put new windows in 2 winters ago, still have not finished the framing of the sills and stuff.....Money pit....But no I'm not bitter, we knew what we where getting into just not this deep.....Unfortunatly most of my equipment is 240volts and my garage only has 1 15amp circuit to run the complete shop....That's on the to do list for spring.....I hope.

Inflation and age has about ruined house stuff DIY for me. Car stuff too. everything is 100-300% more and shops around here are like $150/hr. Even having the bucks sucks cause I think in 1980 dollars. Folks now need to be especially careful in starting projects now that were no brainers even a year ago. Even house flippers are losing interest in the game. Car restoration today seems a gamble. BTW summit sucks avoid them.
