58-59 Fleetside Brace location

Hi all, Sorry to have so many questions but this is the first truck I have done. This is a 57 with 58-59 short fleetside bed. On the second and third cross braces should the wheel tubs bolt to cross brace at either end? Are there any diagrams that have measurements where the braces should be? Thanks Steve

STEVE

I've just asked a similar question regarding crossbraces in this link

Out of curiosity, do your crossbraces have holes on one side but not the other. (refer images in my link)

I'm only asking as mine aren't fitted and my thoughts are that the holes on the sides are for the support rods that drop to the lower guard section. If that's right then I suspect brace 1 holes rear, brace 2 holes front, brace 3 holes rear, rear brace welded in place on mine.

Mine look like yours hole on one side. I don't know which way is right. Mine are reproduction braces. Steve

FAM covers 55-59 mostly... it was laid out and printed in 1954
for wide bed specifics you'll need the 58 supplement,
i have the 59 supplement, it refers to the 58 for sheet metal changes

Re: 58-59 Fleetside Brace location

I was doing some measuring yesterday and I think the second brace from the front is in the wrong spot by 1". If I could get a measurement from a 58/59 fleetside swb truck from the center of the front brace to the center of the second brace of the bed that would be helpful. My truck is a bunch of other trucks so nothing other than the cab and doors are original. Thanks Steve
