My 1965 GMC project Lots of pics

Hey here is my 1965 GMC project that ive Been working on for the last while

Sorry about some of the pics some were taken with a cell phone
i got the truck From a good friend almost 3 years ago it was his uncles truck who died in a plane crash he was planing on fixing it but had to many other projects on the go ( he has lots of old trucks and cars ) this was to be my first resto so i hope you guys enjoy it as much as i have so far

Lets start off with the engine its a 230 straight 6 .... when i first got the we tried turning it over with no luck until we pulled it apart and found that number 4 was rusted shut so i had an option toss it get a V8 like everyone else try to find a good used 6 and rebuild it or fix this engine.... well we decided to fix this one it cost about $850 to fix
the engine only had 73549 original miles so it was worth keeping

Work done
Head
combustion chambers were cleaned and head was resurfaced and 2 new valves ( guides were fine)

Block
Block Was acid dipped
No 4 cyl was bored and a sleeve was installed and bored to factory specs
all other cylinders were honed
new cam bearings were installed
new piston ( of course)
new lifters
crank cleaned and checked
New frost plugs
all new main bearings
rods were checked
new rod bearings factory spec

Thats all.... was not that bad as i thought it was going to be
here are the pics me and my friend and i put the motor together

Looks all nice a perfect

Re: My 1965 GMC project Lots of pics 56K no

I like the truck, brings back memories of when I was a little guy and we would go for family travels in the truck and my mom and dad and three sisters all sat on the bench seat and my place was on the floor, lol. I use to just sleep. My kids today would be shocked to see how things were when I was little.
