71 shorty
Found a 71 shorty for sale today. It's a fleetside forest service truck. 350 4 speed. comes with auto conversion and with a straight cab and front clip. he doesn't know if the box has puddy or not. frame rebuilt with 3.73, comes with 4.10 posi, too. wants 1500 for the whole lot. i need the box and frame for a project, is it still worth it? how can I tell about puddy, just the ole magnet test? see if it's wavy? will have some pics in a lil bit. thanks

The magnet trick works pretty good. If it was an old forest service truck you have to figure it got some work and probably by people who didn't care.

SWB 4x4 frames are getting real hard to find, especially ones with titles. But since its a 2wd its still worth it I'd think.

it turned out to be a lemon. no where near what the description and phone conversations claimed. oh well, back on the look for a short fleet bed or parts truck!
