Smile questions about interchanging stuff!

i am about to enter the newer body style with my first post 87 truck, i am looking at an 88 shortie 2 wheeler to make a mild trick truck/hot rod, will the tilt column out of a '81-'87 work in an 88 or is there a difference in the length? the truck is a 4.3 and i have a nice 5.7 out of a 89 burb is this going to create a self-induced nightmare or will it be a plug and play? any insight will be really helpful for an old school carburated guy! thanks! (john)

columns have different flanges at the floor for one, probably more things. 4.3-5.7 is plug and play just use the 5.7 ECM and need V8 mounts.

I have tilt column out of a '88 but needs to be rebuilt, the knuckle is busted. I think the older stuff will work to fix it.
