Gas tank cover plate
I am putting a poly tank in my Blazer and dropping the back end 6 inches. Was thinking I might want to have some kind of skid plate protecting it. Anybody out there put one of these on their truck. Should be easy enough to build. Maybe 3/16 steel. not sure

Yup, I'm just about to try the same thing. The bottom of my poly tank sits about 4" off the ground when I dump the air out of my bags. I'm leaning toward some heavy gauge (14 or 12) aluminum because 1) It's a little easier to work with and 2) I'm concerned about steel dragging on the ground and <maybe> sending out a shower of sparks
 No, I haven't got around to pricing it, but I'll bet it ain't cheap.....

try a 1/2" pexi-glass cover. you can get in various colors and easy to mod to fit

Do you want it to be legal to run on a racetrack or is this just because? PM UNCLEBOB about thickness required for track legality. If this is for show I would go with some nice aluminum that way you could polish it or have it powder coated.
